Kenyan born military officer Silvia Jemutai has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army, marking a significant milestone in her distinguished career, during a ceremony at Fort Lee, Virginia, attended by colleagues, friends and family members. Jemutai, who hails from Kopsiya in Poror, Eldama Ravine, Baringo County, began her journey in Kenya before relocating to the United States, where she pursued both academic and military ambitions. Over the years, she has risen steadily through the ranks, earning recognition for her leadership, discipline and dedication to service.

During the promotion ceremony, she dedicated the achievement to her late mother, Jacqueline Alice Kirui, whom she described as a source of strength and inspiration. She noted that her mother’s sacrifices and guidance shaped her values and propelled her toward excellence in her military career.
